When I was a little girl in school, drawing was my passion. While I struggled with other subjects and even failed high school, I excelled in art, achieving the highest marks in drawing. However, that was the extent of my formal education. I left school after failing the 10th grade in 1985, as I had no interest in studying further.
In 2000, I met my daughter’s father, an Italian man who was preparing to open an Italian restaurant in Pune. I worked there as a waiter, and one day, he showed me some Italian paintings and asked if I could create something similar. Though I had no formal training, I said I would try. I ended up painting a large wall entirely freehand, and it turned out wonderfully. It was then I realized that art was truly a gift from God.
In 2002, we moved to Goa, and by 2004, I had fully embraced painting as my calling. Since then, I’ve been painting with all my heart and continue to do so to this day.
